UCHEUGO WRITES ABOUT BRANDING YOURSELF AS AN ARTISTE!

Branding yourself as an artiste/music business..

a brand stays forever you need to see yourself beyond just an ordinary artiste!!!! see yourself as a BRAND, If you really want to make $$$$ in your music business, you should market yourself. An aggressive, strong presence online is the best branding technique ever i quote. Make people fall in love with your music! This creates loyalty which directly impacts your brand.

Branding is all about having a clear message. What makes you so unique? What makes you really special? This should be clear, concise and consistent. Branding is about consistency. if you can brand yourself to the point that people believe in you , your music and your "brand" then you will have loyal, life-long fans... R.kelly is a good example in spite of all that has happened to R.kelly, i still love his music likewise other people.

Most definitely Promoting and branding yourself is not like selling gala or plantain chips..below details should help you

Social Media  :
Now we have internet..you need to flood the social networks, make use of all social networks you know, get a personal website you don't have to wait to get huge amount of money to get a professional website, create blogs, stay really active with Twitter, have a strong facebook fan page, get your music online, downloads, ringtones e.t.c

Note: With no strategy behind your SOCIAL MEDIA PLAN, even 1000 comments or views won't get you closer to success.

Fashion Statement : You don't have to be the LADY gaga or d HIPHIP guy so to say a few, you don't have to lose your mind or your personality when creating a fashion statement..Create a style that represents your music and yourself, as an individual. Never lose your personal style for the sake of selling music. You don’t want to become famous for something you are not..And if you work on maintaining a certain image, not only will you be recognizable but you will also be memorable.

Music: Have qood music that motivates the music consumer. Be honest with yourself regarding your vocals, and mixing..u don't have to be using autotune..then what happens if you are to perform your song with a band??

Freebies: You can always give your fans cool stuffs either online or during a concert and nothing is stopping you from buying a lunch for a fan  of yours...sure he/she would be the very first person to do a PR for your album.

Video:
Your music video should also have a personality if you really want to crate a brand..don't just do a music video that would be forgettable..alot of ways to make your video unique..even if you don't have 2million naira to shoot a video!!! you can shoot a nice piece of video with even 300k!!! and still be unique.

GraphicS: if your stage name is not yet popular, you need to find someone to carve your unique name on shirts and have it printed..Make sure your designs match your personality and make sure they’re unique that your fans would love to have.

Business Card: If you tell me you don't have one, then you still ain't serious about your career...business card is a useful tool for promoting your brand especially if you are the type that enjoys going for all kinds of gigs, you really need one!! if you don't have money to get one, buy a CARDBOARD PAPER, cut it to the sizes of business card "3 inchs by 2". get a ruler to do that measurement..then get an office PEN which is about 150 or 200 Naira..then find someone with a good hand-writing that will help you write on it e.g "I make music for all kinds of event" Tel: XXXXXX email : XXXXXX twitter: XXXXXX then you are good to go stop giving excuses!!!!!

CD Packaging :
Be More creative with your promo cd/album packaging..who says you can't advertise GLO or any company who recognizes MUSIC as tool to get to their audience.. on your promo jacket sleeves, you can advertise and make some cool $$$$ i just gave u a clue.. be wise, think like a brand and stop sleeping on a bicycle.

More to come..hope this little piece helps you in your career.
Bless!
